International media have reported that Venezuela’s opposition leader, María Corina Machado, gifted her Nobel Peace Prize to U.S. President Donald Trump during a meeting with him.
During the meeting, she welcomed the alleged abduction of Venezuela’s former president Nicolás Maduro by the United States and also thanked Trump in this regard.
María Corina Machado, who has opposed Maduro’s government for years, had hoped to come to power with U.S. support; however, Trump has given priority to engagement with officials of Venezuela’s ruling government rather than the opposition.
