In the past few days, various meetings have been held outside Afghanistan regarding the status of women in the country on the occasion of March 8, “International Women’s Day.” Some of these meetings were organized by foreign institutions and organizations, while others were held by exiled politicians of the Republic government and opposition parties and fronts against the caretaker government.

While these meetings have focused on the situation of women in Afghanistan, in countries like Palestine and Sudan, Muslim women are enduring the worst possible conditions. Since the true nature of such meetings is not to support women, we should not expect these individuals to defend the thousands of women who have been martyred.

After the Taliban came to power, the issue of women has been one of the most prominent topics outside the country; in fact, some governments have even used this issue as a leverage against the caretaker government and exploited it to impose their illegitimate demands.

Meanwhile, however, the defectors from the republican regime and the banners of the anti-Taliban government fronts have not lagged behind this caravan and occasionally use the issue of women’s rights as a tool to gain fame, prominence, and attract the attention of their patrons.

While during the governance of these same individuals, Afghan women were in the worst possible condition and faced numerous challenges such as addiction, forced and underage marriages, domestic violence, and deprivation of inheritance and dowry rights; challenges that were not addressed by the then government.

Moreover, the brutal ground and aerial attacks of the occupiers, in collaboration with these very politicians, over the past twenty years, were in themselves a violation of the most fundamental rights of Afghan women, namely the right to life. During this period, thousands of Muslim women in this land were martyred, injured, or disabled as a result of the occupiers’ attacks, under the bitter shadow of these very figures.

Truly, if the dead consciences of these individuals recognize something called women’s rights, then where have they been all this time?! Why, in the twenty years they were in power, did they never raise their voices in defense of women’s rights or hold a meeting or session?

The answer to this question is clear to everyone! Yes, the defectors of the Republic government, like their masters, use the issue of women’s rights merely as a tool to serve their personal interests, and in fact, they do not care about women or any segment of society. Their disgraceful actions have clearly proven this truth.
