Officials from Nangarhar’s Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock confirmed that border authorities at Torkham have intercepted and sent back 15 tons of substandard lemons from Pakistan.

The shipment, infected with canker disease and unsuitable for consumption, was thoroughly inspected by Plant Quarantine officials before being rejected and returned to the neighboring country.

This incident follows numerous previous cases where large quantities of spoiled goods entering Afghanistan from Pakistan were similarly detained and returned at various crossing points.
