The High Commission for Addressing Refugee Affairs reported on Sunday that a total of 977 refugee families, comprising 5,053 individuals, returned to the country through various crossing points. Upon arrival, the Commission’s committees provided a range of essential services, including healthcare, food, transportation, and telecommunications.

According to the report, 450 families crossed through the Torkham border, with 2,500 individuals registered and biometrically processed. The Transportation Committee facilitated the safe relocation of 552 families, totaling 3,067 individuals, from the Omari Camp at Torkham to Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, and Kabul provinces. The families also received nearly 1.5 million Afghanis to cover transportation expenses.

The report further stated that 1,055 returning families at Torkham received 8,970,000 Afghanis in cash assistance. Additionally, 880 families were temporarily settled in a camp, where they received healthcare services and 2,788 SIM cards.

The Commission also noted that 402 families returned via the Spin Boldak crossing. Of these, 391 families received 3,344,000 Afghanis in cash assistance, while 288 families were temporarily settled. A total of 3,918 food and water packages were distributed, and 488 sick returnees received medical treatment. Furthermore, 658 SIM cards were distributed to them.

Meanwhile, 76 families, comprising 320 individuals, returned via the Silk Road crossing in Nimruz. Of these, 75 families received 560,000 Afghanis in assistance. All 76 families were temporarily accommodated and, in addition to receiving healthcare services, were provided with 76 free SIM cards.

The report also mentioned that 49 families, consisting of 166 individuals, returned through the Islam Qala crossing in Herat. In addition to other services, they received 280,000 Afghanis in cash assistance.

Furthermore, the Transportation Committee safely relocated 210 families, totaling 1,216 individuals, from Kabul to the provinces of Ghazni, Logar, Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Baghlan, Takhar, Balkh, Jawzjan, and Kunduz. The families received 509,450 Afghanis to cover transportation expenses.

The report concluded by noting that, in recent days, tens of thousands of refugee families expelled from Pakistan have returned to the country, with the repatriation process still ongoing.
