Zalmay Khalilzad, the Afghan-born former American diplomat, stated in a post on X that Pakistan is facing political, economic, and security challenges.

Khalilzad described recent clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan as security issues, the imprisonment of PTI party leader Imran Khan as a political issue, and the killing of hundreds of Pakistani citizens in recent protests as economic and security crises.

In his post on X, he emphasized that Pakistan requires a fresh start, which should begin with Imran Khan’s release.
