Reports indicate that heavy fighting has been ongoing for the past two days in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, between the country’s special forces and the military wing of the Al-Qaeda-linked Islamist group, Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen.

Sources confirm that more than 30 Somali soldiers have been killed in the recent clashes.

Media reports also state that the government has bolstered its military presence along all four sides of the capital, amid concerns that al-Shabaab may be planning to encircle Mogadishu.
