The Pakistani Taliban launched a series of coordinated attacks on various security agencies of the Pakistani government following the announcement of their “Al-Khandaq” operations for this year. The first attack occurred last evening in Lahore district of southern Punjab, where a self-sacrificial bomber targeted a convoy of Pakistan’s counterterrorism forces, causing significant casualties and material damage.

Additionally, the group carried out laser rifle attacks on police outposts in Drosh district of Chitral and the Dubori area of Orakzai, killing four soldiers and injuring several others.

Reports indicate that the Pakistani Taliban also targeted military posts and convoys in Shewa, North Waziristan; Ghoriwala and Kaka in Bannu; Safo in Mohmand; Sherkari Hasan Khel in Peshawar; and Naurang district in Lakki Marwat, inflicting casualties on Pakistani forces.

Furthermore, the group launched multiple attacks today on security outposts in Kurram, South Waziristan, Mardan, Bajaur, Makran, Khyber, Tank, Orakzai, and Chitral. The most intense assaults took place in North Waziristan, where dozens of security checkpoints and military vehicles were targeted, resulting in numerous casualties and extensive damage.

The first day of the Al-Khandaq operations has been a significant success for the Pakistani Taliban and a major setback for the Pakistani government. So far, nearly 30 attacks have resulted in the killing and injuries of dozens of Pakistani soldiers and police officers.
