Reliable sources within Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that the Norwegian government has agreed to hand over control of the Afghan embassy in Oslo to the interim government.

The sources also confirmed reports that Norway has accepted a diplomat from the interim government as the embassy’s “First Secretary.” They stressed that the Afghan embassy in Oslo will reopen in the coming days.

The embassy in Oslo was closed in September 2024, and its oversight was entrusted to a former embassy employee, who was approved by the interim government.
