The New York Times reported that following last week’s attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on the phone with dozens of international leaders. Additionally, representatives from around a hundred countries’ embassies in New Delhi have visited India’s Ministry of External Affairs to gather information.

Sources have written that these efforts are not primarily to prevent a dangerous clash between India and Pakistan; rather, they are to convince the international community to take military action agains Pakistan.

After the Kashmir attack, in which India accused Pakistan of involvement, the tension and instability between the two countries have increased more than ever, and there have been occasional exchanges of light weapon fire between the border forces of both countries over the past few nights.

In addition, Indian forces have launched extensive operations in Kashmir, during which they have arrested hundreds of people, and efforts to locate the attackers are still ongoing.
