Iran is investing $5 billion in Afghanistan’s iron ore mines, according to a report from the Iranian state news agency Fars.

Ali Reza Bikdeli, Iran’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, has stated that Afghanistan’s rich mineral resources present an excellent opportunity for cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

The report shows that this investment will significantly boost Iran’s position in global steel production and contribute to Afghanistan’s economic development, particularly in reducing unemployment.

According to the report, Iran pays Afghanistan $100 per ton for iron ore and exports the processed steel at a final price of $600 per ton.
