Enmity with Iran Using Iran’s Own Resources, Under the Banner of Resistance

In regional rivalries, some actors play a double game—appearing close to both sides while actually serving self-interests or foreign agendas. The Resistance Front led by Ahmad Massoud is one such actor. On the one hand, Iran has provided it with offices and other facilities; on the other hand, it expresses sympathy toward Israel. Now, as tensions and conflict between Iran and Israel escalate, this front remains silent—neither defending Iran nor opposing Israel.

It is said that Ahmad Massoud has long maintained contacts with Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, through which he receives financial, technical, and intelligence support. These ties became more apparent when Iranian intelligence discovered the launch site of a drone attack within its own territory—attacks that targeted locations inside Iran. Although this incident wasn’t directly attributed to Massoud, it sparked accusations and suspicion against him, as key players behind his movement are believed to be linked to Mossad.

In this sensitive period, the Resistance Front issued only a routine statement, then fell into a deep and telling silence. Ahmad Massoud has neither strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on Iran nor declared loyalty to Iran. This two-faced policy has forced Iran to confront the reality that the group it supports is in fact serving its enemies. This should sound an alarm for Iran to begin questioning the motives of these groups and reconsider its current policies toward them.

As the balance of regional and international dynamics shifts, Tehran must not overlook these contradictions. Continued support for the Resistance Front will not only weaken Iran politically but also open another gateway for Israeli covert influence. It is, therefore, imperative that Iran sever ties with this front and cease support for a group that uses Iranian resources to serve others.

In a nutshell, this so-called resistance front has turned into a tool for executing hidden agendas rather than genuine resistance. For Iran’s national security, this is a dangerous game. Wisdom now lies in revising its strategy and withdrawing support from factions that show neither loyalty nor transparency, but instead shift allegiances based on time and benefit.
