Internal Coordination of the Jamiat Party, or the Last Sigh of Demise!?

    Writer: Faridon Amini

Recently, several former leaders of the Jamiat party announced their unity and reconciliation on social media. This announcement comes at a time when the party has split and divided into several pieces following the assassination of its former leader, Burhanuddin Rabbani. Salahuddin Rabbani, the son of Burhanuddin Rabbani, declared himself the leader of the party and, in common parlance, the heir after his father’s death. However, he faced strong opposition from the Massoud family, Atta Muhammad Noor, and many other senior figures, leading the party further into decline.

As the party continued to decline, these controversies intensified when Atta Mohammad Noor gathered several people within the party and declared himself the party leader. Meanwhile, Massoud’s family considered themselves the most deserving of the party leadership, leading to both covert and overt opposition to Rabbani and Noor. Among some others, there were even discussions about starting another parallel party and movement alongside the Jamiat party.

After the fall of the republic, members and leaders of this party, who also formed the fallen republic, made numerous efforts to regroup and reorganize outside of Afghanistan. However, after each attempt and effort, their differences deepened, and instead of cohesion, they moved toward isolation and division. The structures they created under various names also collapsed and dispersed. Now that they are once again talking about cohesion and unity, while the main leaders and members of the leadership of this party (including Rabbani) are strongly opposed to the new structure and insist on their position.

In fact, the announcement of the Jamiat’s unity was made only by Atta Mohammad Noor, not by Massoud’s family or any of the other people they mentioned in the statement; nor have those individuals said anything officially about this so far, which in itself indicates a major rift and disagreement. Yes, and most importantly, the Jamiat party was once formed solely with the help of foreign circles and, to a large extent, intelligence agencies to carry out certain missions. However, as those missions were completed or as time passed, support was withdrawn, and the party moved toward disintegration.

If we look at the current state of the Jamiat party, which is still divided and scattered, its unstable leadership, and its leaders, each of them is seeking their own material and personal interests. Each of them is already carrying out other activities parallel to Jamiat, and all their efforts are focused on their personal interests and goals. They only refer to the Jamiat party and address when they need to demand benefits. Otherwise, this address is meaningless and worthless to them as well.

In conclusion, we can say that the new declaration of unity and cohesion by the Jamiat is, in fact, the announcement of their final death and decline, and this relative status will soon disappear as there is nothing left in either the Jamiat or its members for them to gather around. Even if you look at the foreign side, considering the past dark and corrupt actions of the Jamiat party, no one is willing to help them rise again.
