Trump: Any Attack on Qatar is Attack on the United States

Reuters reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order stating that any armed attack on Qatar will be considered attack on U.S. security, with Washington ready to respond, including military action if required.

The order, signed on Monday, states: “If Qatar is attacked, the United States will take all legal and appropriate measures, diplomatic, economic, and, if necessary, military to safeguard the interests of both the United States and the State of Qatar.”

In response, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the decision in a statement issued yesterday, calling it a significant step toward strengthening defense ties between the two countries.

The decision follows Israeli airstrikes on Doha three weeks ago, which raised Qatar’s concerns over its defense vulnerabilities.

Qatar hosts the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East and has long relied on Washington as its primary security guarantor. Yet the country remained exposed during the recent Israeli attacks.
