Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, stated the government is pursuing alternative trade routes after Pakistan suspended the transit of Afghan goods through Karachi port.

Azizi said the initiative is aimed at protecting the interests of Afghan farmers, traders, and industrialists who have been severely affected by the disruption.

Trade routes between Afghanistan and Pakistan have been closed for a second week, with business representatives reporting millions of dollars in direct and indirect losses for traders on both sides.

The restrictions were imposed after Pakistan’s military regime violated Afghan airspace, prompting retaliatory strikes by Afghan forces that caused heavy casualties. In response, Pakistani authorities moved to block trade and transit routes.
