The Director of Industry and Commerce in Paktika province has instructed local money exchangers to collect Pakistani rupees within the city and exchange them for Afghanis.

He instructed that exchangers must not process any transactions in Pakistani rupees. Any such transfers, whether sent from other parts of the country or from abroad, must be converted into Afghanis.

He also banned the transfer of Pakistani rupees into Paktika from other provinces.

The Paktika Money Exchangers Association pledged full cooperation, stressing that promoting the use of Afghani is a religious duty.

Local exchangers further vowed to stop circulating Pakistani rupees in the market.
