According to Reuters, Mexican security forces killed Nemesio Oseguera, widely known as El Mencho, a notorious drug trafficker, in an operation carried out in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.
El Mencho led the powerful CJNG drug cartel, formally known as the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, one of Mexico’s most powerful criminal organizations.
An official of U.S Department of War stated that the Pentagon had shared intelligence with the Mexican government regarding the drug cartel.
The United States had earlier offered a $15 million reward for information that could lead to El Mencho’s capture.
