The New York Times reported that, following a post by U.S. President Donald Trump on his social media platform calling on Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian Embassy in Zimbabwe responded in a humorous tone on X, saying “The keys are missing.”

Since the recent strikes by the United States and Israel, several Iranian diplomatic missions have become notably more active on social media, often sharing posts that reflect President Trump’s tone, including sharp and sarcastic commentary.

In this context, the Iranian Embassy in South Africa appears to be among the most active. It had previously shared a cartoon referencing Trump’s claims about bringing peace to the world, showing a dove of peace alongside the shadow of a fighter jet.
