At a regional ecological summit held in Kazakhstan, the Afghan delegation stressed the need to strengthen regional cooperation in order to address the impacts of climate change and reinforce environmental protection efforts.

In a statement issued by the National Environmental Protection Authority, the delegation noted that Afghanistan is facing serious climate-related challenges, including water scarcity, land degradation, and glacier melting, adding that these challenges can only be addressed through coordinated regional efforts.

The delegation, led by Mawlawi Matiul Haq Khalis, also called on international and regional partners to increase climate financing, expand the use of green and emerging technologies, strengthen early warning systems, and take practical steps toward the effective and sustainable management of natural resources.
