A high-level delegation of the Afghan government, led by the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, Mawlawi Ataullah Omari, visited the northern provinces and inspected the ongoing work of the Qosh Tepa National Canal, assessing the progress of the project.

Mr. Omari described the current activities of the National Development Corporation as unprecedented in the country’s history and assured full cooperation in completing the Qosh Tepa National Canal.

At the same time, a representative of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mawlawi Ahrar, stated that this project will strengthen Afghanistan’s economic position at the regional level and play a fundamental role in increasing national revenues.

The General Director of the National Development Company, Abdul Rahman Attash, assured that technical teams are working at a rapid pace to complete the remaining parts of the project as soon as possible, in accordance with all national and international standards.

It is worth noting that the excavation work of the second phase of the Qosh Tepa Canal is nearing completion. Currently, work is ongoing on 28 bridges and water control structures along the canal route. Once completed, it will bring water from the Amu River to Andkhoy district of Faryab province.
