The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said in a statement that the Minister for Refugees and Repatriation, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, met with United Nations representatives to discuss the situation of Afghan refugees, the challenges facing returnees, and the need to expand humanitarian assistance.

According to the ministry, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir held talks with Brham Saleh, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and Alexander De Croo, the head of the United Nations Development Programme, on the situation of Afghan refugees and future cooperation.

The statement noted that the UN representatives reaffirmed their continued support for the Afghan people, stressing that the growing number of returnees and increasing humanitarian needs require greater international assistance.

Brham Saleh described the forced deportation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan and Iran as a matter of serious concern and emphasized the need for joint meetings to address the challenges facing refugees.

The statement added that Mawlawi Abdul Kabir said that decades of war and hardship have forced millions of Afghans into displacement and called for greater efforts to eliminate the root causes of migration. He also stressed that humanitarian assistance should not be politicized and urged an increase in aid for vulnerable Afghans.

According to the statement, both sides emphasized the continuation of joint efforts to resolve the challenges facing Afghan refugees and strengthen cooperation.
