Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Turhan Saleh, the newly appointed Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in Kabul.

According to the ministry, the two sides discussed expanding cooperation on the United Nations Development Programme’s activities in Afghanistan, including the reintegration of returnees, healthcare, agriculture, counter-narcotics alternative livelihoods, environmental protection, climate change, and disaster management and response.

Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi stressed the importance of implementing development and infrastructure projects alongside humanitarian assistance and reaffirmed the Afghan government’s commitment to continued cooperation with the United Nations.

Turhan Saleh reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to aligning its programmes with Afghanistan’s development priorities. He said the organization would continue supporting development projects and capacity-building initiatives based on the needs of the Afghan people.
