The fourth high-level meeting between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and United Nations agencies was held under the joint leadership of Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi and UNAMA Deputy Chief in Afghanistan, Indrika Ratwatte.

In a press release, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal stated that in his opening remarks, Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi highlighted the Islamic Emirate’s achievements and ongoing projects in public services and economic development. He emphasized that the government is trying with all its capacity to restore the country’s stability and self-sufficiency in humanitarian and development fields.

Mawlawi Muttaqi also stressed the need to shift aid from humanitarian to developmental projects and to invest in long-term infrastructure systems through work-based assistance programs.

According to the press release, Indrika Ratwatte added that while the need for humanitarian aid has not entirely disappeared, the transition from humanitarian to developmental aid is progressing rapidly.
