Mohammad Ashraf Haqshanas, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, said that in the year 1404 Solar Hijri, the volume of commercial goods transported through the country’s railway network increased by 39.1 percent compared to 1403.

According to Mr. Haqshenas, 4.3 million metric tons of goods were transported through the railway stations in 1403, while this figure increased to more than 6.1 million metric tons in 1404.

Mr. Haqshanas added that imports include fuel, liquefied gas, wheat, flour, cooking oil, cement, and several other food and construction materials. Exports include dried fruits, rice, potatoes, minerals, watermelon seeds, chickpeas, copper, and pomegranate juice.

He attributed the growth in railway transportation to systematic planning, ongoing monitoring, infrastructure development, and the continued efforts of technical and administrative staff.
