After the member of the Resistance Council leadership, Mohammad Mohaqiq, traveled to Iran at the head of a delegation, Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the ethnic and familial front known as the Resistance, also made an urgent but competitive trip to Iran, where he met with Iranian officials, IRGC commanders, and members of the Resistance Front in Iran, as well as some local officials.
Hindukush Voice has obtained details of the mentioned trip and meetings from its reliable sources, which show that Ahmad Massoud was more concerned about Mohaqiq’s trip to Iran, so he urgently traveled to Iran as soon as Mohqiq returned.
Based on information obtained by the Voice of Hindukush, Ahmad Massoud presented strong objections to the Iranians regarding Mohqiq’s trip to Iran and his meetings with Iranian officials. In his meetings with Iranian officials and the Revolutionary Guards, he also expressed strong reactions and objections to the tens of thousands of US dollars in cash assistance given to Mohqiq by the Iranians during his previous trip.
The source adds that although Iranian officials assured Ahmad Massoud that their meetings with Mohaqiq were very routine and ceremonial and that no special agreement had been made with him, but Ahmad Massoud repeatedly expressed his sensitivity regarding the matter to the Iranian officials.
The source adds that Ahmad Massoud, during this trip, also went to the city of Mashhad in Iran and held private meetings there with Ismail Khan, Hazrat Ali, and some other responsible individuals regarding the topic and recent developments.
This trip by Ahmad Massoud is taking place at a time when, in last April, the Resistance Council decided after lengthy discussions to send a delegation to Iran under the leadership of Mohaqiq to address the issues of refugees. However, this trip faced internal opposition within the Resistance Council, particularly from Sayyaf. The Resistance Front, which currently has symbolic membership in the Resistance Council, was deliberately overlooked in this trip and the composition of the delegation. High-ranking members of the Resistance Front in Iran, such as Ismail Khan and Hazrat Ali, who are also members of the Resistance Council, were not informed. In this regard, despite Ahmad Massoud’s mentioned protest and competitive trip, a member of the Resistance Council and a close associate of Ahmad Massoud, Hazrat Ali, specifically presented his objection to Younus Qanuni in strong terms, calling it a clear insult to themselves and the Resistance Front.
It is worth mentioning that recently, the differences between the Resistance Front and the Resistance Council, most of whom are former unsuccessful politicians, have reached their peak. In the latest development, the Resistance Front and the Jamiat Party, led by Salahuddin, also broke away from the aforementioned politicians’ national assembly. Subsequently, Inayatullah Toofan, a close and loyal associate of Ahmad Masood and the Resistance Front, was expelled from the assembly based on some objections by Mohaqiq.
