The Al-Shabaab movement has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Somali government militia military base in the Shabelle region, resulting in 43 casualties.

According to the group’s media outlet, Shahada News Agency, the attack left 20 people dead and 23 others injured.

In recent weeks, Al-Shabaab forces have advanced to within a few kilometers of the Somali capital, Mogadishu. The group has also seized control of several areas, including the city of Biyo-Adde. It is expected that the movement will soon attempt to overthrow the ruling regime in Somalia.
