American and Russian diplomats met yesterday in Istanbul, Turkey, to discuss improving relations between the two countries.

According to Russia’s TASS news agency, the diplomats engaged in a six-hour meeting, aiming to resolve existing concerns regarding their respective embassies.

Reports indicate that the Russian delegation was led by Alexander Dachiev, head of the North Atlantic Department at Russia’s Foreign Ministry, while the U.S. delegation was headed by Sonata Coulter, Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. State Department.

Notably, a new chapter in U.S.-Russia relations commenced last week when U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held discussions in Riyadh. However, those talks primarily focused on ending the war in Ukraine.
