An Afghan named Abdulrahman Waziri, who had worked with U.S. Special Forces during the occupation of Afghanistan, was killed in front of his home in Houston, Texas, on April 27. Shockingly, the killer was released after brief questioning by the police, and the case remains unresolved to this day.
American media report that former U.S. soldiers and Waziri’s family have recently called on the U.S. government to ensure justice and arrest the murderer.
According to the U.S. Air Force-affiliated website Air Force Times, two months after the incident, the killer still has not been arrested and was released shortly after being questioned by police.
In response to the killing of Abdulrahman Waziri, a former U.S. soldier, Ben Hoffman, who had worked alongside Waziri in Afghanistan, stated in an interview, “Abdulrahman came to America from Afghanistan, got killed, and then there’s this silence? It’s shocking—how did America become even more dangerous than Logar province, Afghanistan?”
Furthermore, around twenty former soldiers have sent a letter to the Harris County’s Attorney demanding that Waziri’s case be investigated transparently and without delay.
They wrote, “If Abdulrahman had been a U.S. citizen, this kind of silence would never have been tolerated.”
On the other hand, Waziri’s family said, “We thought America would be a safe place for us. We fled the war, but we’re still being killed here.”
It’s worth noting that in recent months, there has been an alarming increase in the killings of Afghan collaborators who worked with U.S. forces during the occupation of Afghanistan.
