Another Sign of Amrullah Saleh’s Hostility Towards National Interests

The Fallen Republic in Afghanistan was America film that aimed to capture the minds of the Afghan people and portray them as the main characters through the acting of Amrullah Saleh and other similar actors.

These are the dark figures who had no power of independent decision-making or will in Afghanistan without the policies and strategies of the West. This is not just a claim but rather clear evidence of their past and present stances against national interests.

Since the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan, the progress made over the past four years, which embodies the self-sufficiency of the Afghan people, has been proceeding very well. These developments have long-term economic, political, and security benefits and are also of strategic value to the caretaker government.

Whenever the institutions of the caretaker government hold technical meetings with neighboring countries for the CASA-1000, TAPI, Trans-Afghan Railway, and other major projects, or when they begin practical work, the implementation of these projects seems like a dream and fantasy to Amrullah Saleh and other unpopular figures. In their comments, they spread negative propaganda about these large and fundamental projects, including raising doubts in the minds of the Afghan people regarding the TAPI project.

TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) is a major natural gas pipeline project between four countries (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India), and is a historic and regional project for the economy. This pipeline starts from the Galkynysh gas field in Turkmenistan, passes through Afghanistan, and then extends to Pakistan and India. After several years of delay in Afghanistan, the project has been reactivated and entered the practical phase by the efforts of the caretaker government.

The total length of this project is 1814 kilometers, with an annual gas transmission capacity of approximately 33 billion cubic meters. 816 kilometers of pipeline will pass through the Afghan provinces of Herat, Farah, Helmand, and Kandahar, with a total estimated cost of approximately 10 billion.

The benefits of the TAPI project for Afghanistan are as follows:
    1. Afghanistan earns $400 million annually in transit fees from the TAPI gas pipeline project.
    2. The TAPI project will provide thousands of Afghans with job opportunities within Afghanistan.
    3. The TAPI project will create economic connectivity and link Afghanistan with other countries in the region, giving it the status of an economic corridor.
    4. In Afghanistan, alongside the TAPI pipeline, conditions will be created for the construction of roads, fiber optic lines, electricity, and other facilities.
    5. The implementation of such large projects provides a long-term basis for the country’s security, political, and economic stability.
    6. Through this project, Afghanistan will become interdependent with countries in the region, which will prevent political isolation.

According to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, 8 kilometers of the pipeline for the project have been installed underground, 17.4 kilometers of route survey have been completed, and 10.2 kilometers of pipes have been transported to the site.

This is despite the fact that during the Republic, despite having international legitimacy, aid, and the support of the international community, there was no practical progress on the TAPI and other similar important projects. The main reason for this was the corrupt, weak, and Western-dependent system of the republican administration. Republic was merely a stage for the distribution of power, corruption, and the protection of the personal interests of a few limited individuals, not a means for Afghanistan’s national projects and economic development.

Amrullah Saleh, who considers himself an expert in security, intelligence, and politics, has never presented a clear and positive plan for the country’s strategic and economic interests. On the contrary, when the TAPI project was restarted and the caretaker government supported it, he made statements on social media as if the project was in Pakistan’s interest and would not bring any economic benefit to Afghanistan.

When Amrullah Saleh spreads negative propaganda against the TAPI, Trans-Afghan, and other projects, it shows that he values neither the Afghan economy, regional connectivity, nor the well-being of the Afghan people. The only Western project that matters to him is the one that ensures the continuation of their power.

The officials of the fallen republic were never able to make decisions based on national interests because they were implementers of the will of the Western occupiers, not the Afghan nation. Amrullah Saleh’s claims are not only illogical but also demonstrate his commitment to foreign agendas. Afghanistan is opening new doors to economic connectivity and development through the TAPI and similar projects, but this is something that is unacceptable to Saleh and his allies, and it reveals another manifestation of their hostility towards national interests.
