According to Arab media reports, Syria’s interim president, Ahmad al-Sharaa, is scheduled to visit New York to participate in the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.
This will be the first time since 1967 that a Syrian president attends the UN General Assembly.
Notably, the last Syrian leader to address the General Assembly was then-President Nur al-Din al-Atassi, following the Six-Day Arab-Israeli War.
