The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), an armed separatist group, has claimed responsibility for the targeted killing of a senior Pakistani intelligence officer in Quetta.
BLA spokesperson Azad Baloch stated that the group’s operatives fatally shot Qasim Raisani, an intelligence official, in the capital of Balochistan province.
Amid escalating tensions in Balochistan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has warned that the province is increasingly slipping out of the central government’s control.
He suggested that the security situation has deteriorated to the extent that Balochistan could potentially declare liberation from Pakistan.
