According to a report by the Pashto section of China’s state television, representatives from Russia and China discussed their support for Afghanistan during a session of the United Nations Security Council.

The report states that China’s representative, Fu Kong, remarked that Afghanistan is currently at a critical stage and urged the international community to immediately provide more resources to support the country’s development, drug control efforts, and counterterrorism operations.

He also referenced the extension of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), noting that it demonstrates the strong backing Afghanistan continues to receive from the United Nations.

Furthermore, Russia’s Deputy Representative, Anna Yevstigneva, highlighted the importance of cooperation between UNAMA and the interim government.

It is also noted that during the session, the mandate for the UNAMA mission in Afghanistan was extended for another year.
