China’s State Council Tariff Commission has increased tariffs on American imports from 84 percent to 125 percent.
The decision was made in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s move to raise tariffs on Chinese goods to 154 percent.
In a statement, China’s Ministry of Finance said the United States’ imposition of what it called “unnatural” tariffs on Chinese goods violates international trade rules and fundamental economic principles. The ministry stated that China has taken reciprocal action in response.
