CNN Findings; Iran Possesses 5,000 Naval Mines and Begins Deployment in Strait of Hormuz

CNN, citing informed sources, reports that Iran’s military possesses 5,000 naval mines and has already begun deploying them in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime route, has become a central point of escalation in the ongoing Iran–United States tensions.

While the United States strongly opposes any Iranian-imposed transit fee system in the Strait of Hormuz, concerns remain that Tehran may further strengthen its control over the strategic passage in the post-conflict period.
