Health officials in Sudan report that at least 65 people were killed and more than 130 wounded in the recent clashes between the military and paramilitary forces in the country’s southern and western regions on Monday.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), citing two medical sources, an artillery strike in Sudan’s Kordofan region killed at least 40 people and injured 70 others.
A local official stated that the attack was carried out by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, a paramilitary group led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu.

The ongoing conflict in Sudan has already claimed tens of thousands of lives and displaced more than 12 million people, according to reports.
