    Death Toll from Myanmar’s Devastating Earthquake Surpasses 3,000, Hundreds Still Missing

    Mehr News Agency reports that the Myanmar Embassy in Japan has confirmed the casualty toll from the recent catastrophic earthquake, stating that the number of fatalities has risen to 3,003, with 4,515 injured and 351 still missing.”

    Myanmar’s meteorological authorities have warned that unseasonal rainfall is expected to hit already affected regions, including Mandalay, Sagaing, and the capital Naypyidaw, from next Sunday until April 11.

    The Myanmar Embassy also stated that 53 shipments of humanitarian aid have arrived by air so far, and more than 1,900 personnel from 15 countries, including China, India, and Russia, are assisting in rescue operations.

    The powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck the country last Friday.
