A number of Kandahar University students living in low rent private houses and apartments in the Aino Mina area of Kandahar have recently faced accommodation difficulties.

According to information received by Voice of Hindukush, the owners of these houses and apartments have recently begun renovation and reconstruction work. Consequently, tenants, including students, have been asked to vacate the properties, while rents for some rooms have also been increased.

Meanwhile, Kandahar University officials said they have held discussions with property owners to address the issue and are working to provide alternative accommodation for the students.

University officials further stated that a delegation was recently dispatched to facilitate discussions between property owners, students, and security officials. Following these talks, it was decided that students would be given nearly twenty days to vacate their current residences.

According to officials, efforts are ongoing to arrange temporary accommodation for the affected students within the university premises.

It is worth noting that these properties are privately owned, and the evacuation requests were issued due to ongoing renovation work.
