Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and now the head of DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), has called for the closure of Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), arguing that they are ineffective and a waste of U.S. taxpayer money.

In a post on his social media platform, X, Musk stated, “Yes! Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty should be shut down.”

He further criticized RFE/RL, claiming, “Europe is now free, and no one listens to these broadcasts.” Musk also accused the organizations of being run by “radical left-wing ideologues” and alleged that they spend $1 billion in taxpayer funds annually.
