Following the return of the Islamic Emirate to power and the establishment of stability across Afghanistan, the country has transformed into a key hub for transit and investment.

Recently, Iran’s Fars News Agency, quoting the executive chief of the country’s railway authority, reported that a new strategic route to connect with China is under consideration.

According to the report, the BRICS organization had previously stated that China is interested in building a new road in Afghanistan to swiftly and safely meet its oil needs.

BRICS also noted that China is exploring this option due to recent maritime tensions with the United States.

The report adds that Iran and China are planning to connect via the Herat–Mazar-i-Sharif route, and from there through the Wakhan Corridor.
