The Financial Times has reported that Chinese hackers have breached the email systems of staff members from several key committees of the U.S. Congress.

The report adds that the cyberattack targeted the systems of committees involved in oversight of China, foreign affairs, intelligence, and the military.

The attack has been attributed to a Chinese cyber group known as “Salt Typhoon,” which has previously carried out attacks on U.S. government agencies.
