A Chinese court has sentenced former Minister of Justice Tang Yijun to life imprisonment after convicting him of bribery.

According to Reuters, citing China’s state television, Tang abused his official positions between 2006 and 2022, accepting bribes totaling nearly 20 million US dollars.

The report noted he unlawfully provided facilitation to individuals and institutions in areas including company registration, real estate transactions, and access to bank loans.

The court also revoked Tang’s political rights for life and ordered the confiscation of all his personal assets.
