From the European Parliament to Harvard University; A Legacy of Dependency from Father to Son

If yesterday, in April 2001, Ahmad Shah Massoud spoke in the European Parliament about Afghanistan becoming a safe haven for global terrorism and warned that this threat would not be limited to Afghanistan but would also endanger Western countries, seeking military support from the West; today, his ungrateful son has taken the same humiliating path as his father.

A path that leads nowhere but to being thrown into the dustbin of history, because the people of Afghanistan have clearly shown that anyone who seeks to open the door for foreigners in this land for their personal and family interests will sooner or later face public hatred and be recognized in the collective conscience of the people as a traitor to the homeland.

This nation has made many sacrifices for independence and freedom and will not allow the country to become a battleground for colonial powers again under deceptive names like “democracy,” “minority rights,” or “fight against terrorism”; yes! Ahmad Massoud, like his father, beats his chest for the people while his actions do nothing but fulfill foreign demands and reproduce dependency.

A few days ago, Ali-Maisam Nazari, the head of foreign relations for the Resistance Front, posted a 9-minute video of Ahmad Massoud’s speech, which had taken place a month before its release at Harvard University, on his X page. A speech that, with a little contemplation and reflection on its content, you will find nothing but betrayal of the homeland and expressions of servitude and dependency to foreigners.

Ahmad Massoud, in his statements, tries to draw the attention of Western countries to Afghanistan by exploiting the name of Al-Qaeda and garner their support, while at the same time preventing the normalization of their relations with the caretaker government; an effort that ultimately is nothing more than a fantasy, as Western powers well know that Al-Qaeda does not have a physical presence in Afghanistan, and what Massoud claims is more of a tool to attract attention and strengthen his own legitimacy and that of the Resistance Front.

And since it talks about severing relations between countries and the caretaker government, it should be understood that isolating Afghanistan is nothing but following the policies of foreign countries aimed at suppressing the caretaker government and consequently bringing about a political alternative; such that this alternative represents foreign countries and serves their interests in the geography of Afghanistan.

As we witnessed in the dark days of the civil wars and two decades of the republic, each of the warlords and notorious figures relied on one of the neighboring countries or global powers, and while they called themselves Afghans, they were actually advancing the interests of foreigners.

In another part of these scattered remarks, Ahmad Massoud, by obscuring the absolute truth, attempts to accuse the caretaker government of ethnic cleansing and the deprivation of minority rights; baseless accusations that have no evidence to support them, but rather an unsuccessful effort to incite ethnic and linguistic conflicts in Afghanistan.

These accusations are made by someone who himself is an unwavering follower of Ahmad Shah Massoud; a dark figure who, during Rabbani’s rule, orchestrated the bloody Afshar massacre, one of the most brutal civilian massacres in contemporary Afghan history.

How can Ahmad Massoud accuse others of wasting the rights of minorities and fueling ethnic conflicts in Afghanistan, when just a few days ago, Abdullah Khanjani, the head of the political office of the Resistance Front, stated in an interview with the media that Bagram Air Base is located in Tajik territory; His remarks faced strong backlash from Afghans both inside and outside Afghanistan, with many considering it a venomous attempt at ethnic nationalism, separatism, and undermining national unity.

In conclusion, it must be said that what is heard today from Ahmad Massoud in Western circles is a continuation of the same policy that Ahmad Shah Massoud pursued; a policy that, by ignoring the independence, dignity, and national unity of Afghanistan, seeks to attract foreign support and political and ideological dependency.

But experience has shown that the people of Afghanistan are neither deceived by colorful slogans nor do they allow yesterday’s tested faces, dressed in today’s new attire, to auction off the fate of this nation once again. This land, with all its wounds, knows well the path of dignity and freedom and will not tolerate any traitor.
