After the establishment of a republican system in Afghanistan in 2001 with the support of the United States and its allies, it was initially plagued by internal conflicts, political monopolies, and power struggles. One of the key figures who exacerbated ethnic and linguistic divisions during the republican era was Amrullah Saleh.
Amrullah Saleh was a key member of the Northern Alliance, who considered himself the ideological and political heir of Ahmad Shah Masoud after his assassination. From the beginning, the Northern Alliance’s policies had a certain hostility towards ethnic groups, and this stance was repeatedly reflected in Amrullah Saleh’s political statements, writings, and security strategies.
During his tenure as head of national security in the fallen republican system, Amrullah Saleh pursued several policies that clearly indicated his administration was only taking a stance against specific ethnic groups and focusing heavily on the areas, educational centers, and personalities of these groups under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
From the humiliation of tribes to torture, killings, and abductions, all those actions were used by Amrullah Saleh to spread prejudice and maintain power. He wanted to discredit tribes, and for this purpose, he even assassinated foreign individuals, a notable example being the targeting of the Japanese engineer “Tetsu Nakamura” in Nangarhar.
Amrullah Saleh, who was a complex project of foreign intelligence agencies, has always worked to create bloodshed and conflicts among people to maintain his power and make himself prominent. The attack on Kabul University and the death and injury of dozens of students during the fallen republic can be a clear example of all this.
This madman of prejudice and power is still trying to incite people to discord and sacrifice the children of the people for his own interests, leading them to the flames of war and terrifying outcomes. Meanwhile, he himself has not remained consistent, having been the destroyer of national unity yesterday and the one calling for national unity today through war and opposition. Yesterday, he was allied with the imaginary front of resistance, and today, he is the one calling for the Green Trend.
