General Director of Intelligence Wasiq: The Fallen Republic Was a Product of Occupation and a Mask for Colonial Powers

Mawlawi Abdul Haq Wasiq, Afghanistan’s Director of Intelligence, stated that the republic overthrown by the Islamic Emirate in 2021 was a product of foreign occupation and was founded on values that contradicted the beliefs and traditions of the Afghan people.

In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera, Mawlawi Abdul Haq Wasiq described the fallen republic as a mask for colonial powers, designed to protect their interests and maintain their influence in Afghanistan.

He said that under the fallen republic, corruption, the concentration of power in corrupt circles, and oppression of the population had reached unprecedented levels. Governance was largely dictated by foreign actors, whereas the current Afghan government operates within a framework guided by Islamic Sharia and national interests. “They had no red lines, but the Islamic Emirate does,” Wasiq emphasized.

Wasiq emphasized that, for the first time in Afghanistan’s history, a comprehensive law has been enacted to regulate intelligence affairs, with every aspect grounded in Islamic Sharia and the Hanafi school of jurisprudence.
