The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology says the sale and distribution of illegal SIM cards have been reduced to zero, with the registration of the few remaining unregistered cards expected to be completed shortly.
The ministry said its minister, Mullah Abdul Ahad Fazli, made the remarks during a meeting with the heads and representatives of Etisalat, Roshan, ATOMA and Afghan Wireless.
The meeting focused on SIM card registration, implementation of ministry directives, development of the telecommunications sector and measures to address existing challenges.
Fazli stressed the need for continued cooperation between the ministry and telecommunications companies to support the sector’s development. He said the ministry would continue working with the companies to address their challenges.
Representatives of the telecommunications companies thanked the ministry for its cooperation and support and pledged to provide better services in line with its directives. They also committed to expanding telecommunications services to underserved areas throughout the country.
