The spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, has affirmed the country’s commitment to expanding humanitarian and developmental cooperation with the people of Afghanistan.

According to the Hindustan Times, Jaiswal addressed questions during a press conference regarding recent meetings between Indian officials and representatives of Afghanistan Islamic Emirate, particularly a meeting in the UAE between India’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Jaiswal considered these coordinations and interactions as high-level engagements aimed at building long-term relationships with the Afghan people.

Highlighting India’s support in sports, Jaiswal mentioned the participation of Afghan players in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He expressed India’s desire to expand ties with Afghanistan in various fields, including sports.

Jaiswal further added.”We also aim to strengthen our collaboration in sports. Many Afghan players participate in the IPL, and the Greater Noida cricket stadium has been designated for Afghanistan. These are all areas where we seek to expand our relationships,”

It is worth noting that a high-ranking Afghan delegation, led by Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, recently held a meeting with India’s Deputy Foreign Minister to explore ways for expanding bilateral cooperation.
