The Indian newspaper Sunday Guardian has published a report stating that credible sources within the Afghan interim government have strongly denied reports of the resignation of Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani.

According to the newspaper, sources in Kabul confirmed that Haqqani had taken a brief period of rest following his recent international trips, and they dismissed the reports of his resignation as false rumors.

The report further states that Afghan interim government sources accused Pakistani agencies and their intelligence-linked media outlets of spreading these claims. They asserted that the aim of this misinformation campaign is to undermine Afghan unity, discourage investors, and portray Afghanistan as unstable, similar to previous attempts.
