When the caretaker government is mentioned in the context of intra-Afghan negotiations by the opposition, the first question that should be raised is: with whom and why should these intra-Afghan negotiations take place?
The opponents of the caretaker government are a few limited and despised individuals, they are untrustworthy to the nation, their identity and agenda are unknown, they lack cohesion and a unified national will. There is absolutely no agreement or unity among these opposing groups; Ahmad Massoud, Atta Muhammad Noor, Khalili, Mohaqiq, Atmar, Amrullah Saleh, Dostum, and other opponents have deep disagreements among themselves.
When opposing groups neither recognize the will of the nation nor commit to national interests, when there is no cohesion among political opponents, when they are not true representatives of the nation but rather a few limited figures seeking personal gains, then is negotiating with these people an intra-Afghan negotiation!? Negotiating with such groups and individuals, regardless of the name, is a waste of time.
Negotiations with political opponents do not yield any reasonable results because they are powerless and do not represent anyone. Therefore, negotiating with such groups and individuals is fruitless, a waste of time, and gives the right to impose personal interests to those who have plundered and ravaged the country for decades.
Opposition groups and political opportunists have demands that are in clear conflict with the current situation in Afghanistan under the guise of intra-Afghan negotiations, which is why they have rebelled against a legitimate authority and reflect illegitimate demands. On the other hand, political opponents want to whitewash their past under the guise of intra-Afghan negotiations, erase it from people’s memory, and restore their political status.
It is truly questionable why opposing groups, in the presence of an organized governance and the independent authority of the nation, use intra-Afghan negotiations as an excuse to promote their unjust slogans and then challenge the sovereignty of a powerful central government through this means!
Intra-Afghan negotiations are logical and yield results only when the opponents genuinely represent a known, stable, and rightful direction, truly represent the nation, have independence in their decisions, are not under the influence of foreign intelligence agencies, embody the will of the people, and have accomplished several other matters. However, the opposite is true for the other side; they only exploit the name of intra-Afghan negotiations to create an obstacle against national sovereignty and national interests.
