The International Organization for Migration (IOM), has reported that the number of people displaced from the northern Sudanese city of al-Fashir has surpassed one million.

According to the report, nearly 718,000 individuals, roughly 155,000 families, have been forced to flee from al-Fashir and the Zamzam camp.

The report further notes that 99 percent of the Zamzam camp’s residents, estimated at around 499,000 people have abandoned their homes and sought shelter in 26 different locations.

It’s worth mentioning that Sudan has been grappling with civil war and severe famine for the last two years, which has affected the lives of millions of people.
