Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran’s Parliament, has stated that although Pakistan is a good neighbor and friend of Iran, it is not considered a suitable and neutral mediator for international negotiations.
In a published remark, Rezaei emphasized that Pakistan has consistently prioritized U.S. interests and does not take positions that conflict with Washington’s stance.
According to him, Pakistan is not willing to openly acknowledge to the international community that the United States has, in some cases, broken its commitments.
He added that an effective mediator must maintain complete neutrality, rather than supporting one side as Pakistan does.
Meanwhile, on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), there has been widespread discussion regarding these statements.
Indian users and Pakistani critics of their own country are sharing Rezaei’s remarks, along with criticisms and sarcastic commentary about Pakistan’s role as a mediator.
