The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy says it has full control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz and will not allow vessels to transit the waterway without prior coordination with Iran.

In a statement, the IRGC described U.S. officials’ claims that the Strait of Hormuz is open as “clear lies” and said the waterway remains closed to vessels attempting to pass through without coordination with Iran.

The IRGC said the restrictions would remain in place until the United States ends its military actions against Iran and fulfills its related commitments.

The IRGC Navy also said it would use all available forces and capabilities to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz, adding that maritime traffic through the strategic waterway would be regulated according to Iran’s decisions.
